Project Updates

July 23, 2020: We received an extension of the development permit for the Kneehill 1 project from Kneehill County until May 31, 2021.

December 23, 2019: We applied for and were granted an extension to the construction completion date to Jan 31, 2022, from the Alberta Utilities Commission. (Update Letter)

July 25, 2019: We received an extension of the development permit for the Kneehill 1 project from Kneehill County until Aug 23, 2020.

August 23, 2018: We received a development permit for the Kneehill 1 project from Kneehill County. 

April 13, 2018: We have received approval from the Alberta Utilities Commission to construct and operate.

Overview

Kneehill Solar is planning to build and operate a 25 megawatt (MW) solar power generation facility located approximately 2.5 km northwest of Three Hills, Alberta. The project has the potential to generate approximately 44,000 megawatt hours (MWh) annually, which is enough to power approximately 6,000 households on average.
